Restoring Your Pontoon Boat and Boat Seats

Restoring Your Pontoon Boat and Boat Seats

Kiki's Korner |

Considering restoring or remodeling your pontoon boat?  Here are some of Pontoon Restore’s tips to consider:

  • Pontoon Boat Decking - Don’t forget to ensure your pontoon decking is salvageable and not showing signs of mildew or rot.  You don’t want to spend money on sprucing up the pontoon only to find in two years you have a structural problem. This can be costly.
  • Pontoon Flooring Options – Vinyl vs Carpet.  What works best for how you use your pontoon – review our pros and cons and choose what best fits your pontoon boating needs.
  • Installing New Pontoon Railings -- When installing new railings, make sure your new furniture layout fits inside those railings!  Double check your dimensions.
  • Pontoon Boat Seating – It is important to have comfortable seating to enhance your time on the water.  Pontoon Restore has many boat seat options and packages for you to review. Captain chairs, bench seats, lounge seating and fishing seats are all available to enhance your relaxation on the water.
  • Pontoon Bimini Tops and Covers – A bimini top is the best accessory to protect your family from the sun. Upgrading to a power bimini top is a great idea, just push a button and up it comes!

Pontoon Decking

Replacing the deck on your pontoon can be a daunting task and the proper material to replace the deck can be hard to find. We have found an affordable alternative to marine plywood is concrete form board.

Your local concrete supply house carries this board. These boards cut and machine amazingly well, making the finish deck smooth and flawless.

We strongly recommend sealing all newly cut, exposed edges with a clear sealer or resin.   Pontoon Restore has these in stock.

Pontoon Flooring Options

When choosing flooring for your pontoon, consider how you primarily use it. Carpet is available in nearly every color, offers comfort underfoot and is an economical option.

If you fish or boat where sand or mud gets into the boat, choose vinyl flooring. This is a better option, especially if you have pets or friends who might spill things.

Marine grade vinyl has antibacterial and antifungal additives to make it mildew resistant. It also has UV protection to prevent the color from fading in sunlight.

Vinyl flooring is easy to install and has the advantage of being easy to clean.  Woven vinyl provides some more stylish options, comfortable to walk on and provides a textured finish.  You see most new pontoons built with woven vinyl.

Order your flooring directly from Pontoon Restore, whether carpet, vinyl or woven vinyl, we have great colors and styles for you to choose from.  Visit our selection of Pontoon Flooring Options.

Pontoon Bimini Tops and Pontoon Boat Covers

Order bimini tops and boat covers at Pontoon Restore.  Many people think it is less expensive to just replace their canvas. However, canvas is manufacturer specific and is often more expensive that purchasing a new bimini top.

You simply need to know your pontoon boat’s length, width and rail/tubing size to pick the pontoon bimini top that will fit your boat.

I recommend looking at the power bimini. This feature is fantastic. Just unzip the bimini cover, press a button and watch as the bimini rises into position. Secure the strap to your rail and you're ready to set off!

Pontoon Boat Covers help preserve your boat’s appearance and extend its lifespan. These durable covers shield your pontoon from sun, rain, dirt, debris and small critters that like to find a place to rest.

A pontoon cover is a must-have accessory.  To make sure you have the right size cover for your boat, measure your deck whether its is fully or partially enclosed.  Remember, do not measure the outboard motor. Covers for outboard motors are sold separately.
